New 2014 Student Handbook and updates to Policy and Procedures

Launch of the new Student Handbook

 

The new Student Handbook now explores different types of assessments that you may be required to complete while undertaking your course. Referring to the Student Handbook when attempting to complete your assessments will make it easier to understand what you are required to do. We have also ensured that the process of Structured Work Place Learning is clearly explained in the new Student Handbook.

 

The new Student Handbook reflects the updates to Policies and Procedures and is available for you here in the Student Lounge.

 

 

Updates to Policy and Procedures

 

The Student Handbook and the Student Lounge have all the updated policies and procedures. The following is a quick summary of the major changes:

 

 PO15.1 Privacy policy – Changes to Australian privacy laws

  • The privacy policy has been updated to align with the recently implemented amendments to the Privacy Act 1998, including the 13 Australian Privacy Principles, which came into effect on 12 March 2014.
  • Our privacy policy explains how we collect personal information from you, and how we use it.  If you have any questions about the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information or about the Privacy Policy, please contact us at privacy@opencolleges.edu.au

PR4.6 Special Consideration procedure

  • Open Colleges understands that some students may experience prolonged difficulties or disadvantage that may impact the is ability to complete their course in relation to either medical, financial or personal difficulties. The Special Consideration Procedure provides information on eligibility to apply for Special Consideration, process and outcomes that may apply.

 PO.0 Glossary of terms

  • Updated definitions to expand on assessment type definitions and Structured Workplace Learning.

DC1.3 Schedule of Administrative Fees

  • As part of the annual review of the Schedule of Administrative Fees a small update was made to the Assessment Centre Assessment fee. This reflected the inclusion of two qualification specific fees -  Allied Health Assist qualifications and Certificate IV in Vet Nursing. No other changes were made to the Schedule of Administrative Fees.
